Introspective Systems names Don Gooding chairman

The Introspective Systems team continues to add to its roster. Last week I announced that Susan Ruhlin had left the Maine Center of Entrepreneurs to join Introspective Systems. This week it was announced that Don Gooding has been named chairman of the company's board. Gooding, former director of the Maine Center for Entrepreneurs, was an early angel investor in Introspective, which is working in the field of collaborative artificial intelligence.

VentureWell picks UMaine startup for funding, accelerator
VentureWell, a Massachusetts-based nonprofit that supports science and technology entrepreneurs, has selected Zephyrus Simulation, a medical simulation startup founded by University of Maine students, to receive a $5,000 grant and training. The student founders have developed a simulated diaphragm that mimics natural breathing patterns, as well as hyperventilation and obstructed breathing patterns, in order to help train medical professionals to diagnose and respond to critical respiratory situations.

Jeff Marks to step down as head of E2Tech
Jeff Marks announced Friday that he plans to step down as executive Director of the Environmental and Energy Technology Council (otherwise known as E2Tech) to pursue volunteer work abroad. His last day at the organization he’s led for the past five-and-a-half years will be Dec. 31.

HistoryIT hires CTO away from Baseball Hall of Fame
HistoryIT, a Portland company that helps organizations like museums digitize their historical collections, has hired Donny Lowe as its first chief technology officer, according to an article in Mainebiz. Lowe was formerly director of digital strategy at the Baseball Hall of Fame, which is one of HistoryIT's clients. His role at HistoryIT, according to Mainebiz, will be to manage a project to integrate artificial intelligence into the company's projects to help streamline digitization of large data sets.Â
