Portland mapping software co. raises seed round
Maine Venture Fund, CEI Ventures, and members of the Maine Angels and Bangor Angels have all invested in NBT Solutions' first round of financing. The Portland company has raised nearly a million dollars to drive growth of a SaaS mapping platform it’s developed for the telecommunications industry.

Ben Shaw wins regional Entrepreneur of the Year award

Ben Shaw, founder and CEO of Vets First Choice in Portland, has won the New England Entrepreneur of the Year award from Ernst & Young for the healthcare services category. Shaw founded the company in 2010 to provide online pharmacy services to veterinarians and has built it into one of Portland’s most successful technology companies. It currently employs at least 300 people, the majority of which are in Portland, and has annual revenue somewhere in the neighborhood of $60-$100 million.
